Alabama documentary photographer, Leigh Ann Edmonds, focuses on everyday life with an underlying emphasis on human connection. Her work is often described as timeless, gritty and soulful. Leigh Ann’s classic use of black and white 35mm film helps to create nostalgic and enduring story-telling images.
She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BA in studio art and Minor in journalism and went on to create a successful career as a wedding and portrait photographer for many years. Since her retirement from mainstream work, she has since recommitted her talents to documenting and preserving her life experiences on analog.
Edmonds has most recently been featured and interviewed about her personal projects on film with All About Photo, Black and White Magazine, Street Photography Magazine, the Pictorial List, Bold Journal, Dodho, Canvas Rebel and Birmingham City Lifestyle along with podcast interviews with Street Photography Magazine, Street Macadam and Street Photography Mentor.
Her work has been exhibited in Wiregrass Museum of Art, Dothan; Montgomery Museum of Art; Gadsden Museum of Art; Foto Forum Santa Fe, New Mexico; Praxis Gallery, Minneapolis; Canary Gallery in Birmingham, Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope; Black Box Gallery, Portland, Oregon; Gallery Vox, Birmingham; Fotonostrum Gallery in Barcelona.
“Leigh Ann has an unending passion for the craft and a deep connection to the people and places she photographs.” – Melanie Meggs; The Pictorial List
